This summer, members of 澳门太阳城App下载's International Thespian Society, ITS Troupe #6706, stepped off their own stage and into the lives of young campers at SpringSpirit of Houston, where they hosted a week-long youth theatre camp. It was a meaningful opportunity for our students to give back, share their passion for the performing arts, and live out the value of community in a tangible way.

Throughout the week, 澳门太阳城app下载's student artists led theatre-skill games, choreographed and taught dance routines, staged scenes, and built genuine relationships with their campers. By the end of the week, those campers had prepared short performances to showcase for their own families, guided every step of the way by our students.

Several ITS members took on significant leadership roles to make the week possible. Sam Cessac '28 and Payton Mitchell '27 choreographed and taught an interactive dance routine that had campers on their feet and fully engaged. ITS Co-President Sophie Dickson '27 took on the work of organizing the week's schedule and writing original scripts for the campers to perform, ensuring every child had a moment to shine.

Earlier this year, Female Student Chaplain Claudia Moore courageously stepped forward to share an original worship song she had written, both lyrics and melody, with the 澳门太阳城app下载 community during a weekly chapel service. Backed by the 澳门太阳城App下载 Worship Band, Claudia joined the group on stage for the debut performance, creating a powerful moment of worship and authenticity for students and faculty alike.

The response to the song and chapel performance ultimately inspired a larger collaborative project within 澳门太阳城app下载's Worship Band class led by Orchestra Director Nady Benyamine. Benyamine worked alongside students to professionally record, produce, and mix the song, allowing the class to gain hands-on experience in both the creative and technical process behind worship music production.

"This project was a special opportunity for our students to collaborate creatively while using their gifts to point others toward Christ," Benyamine shared. "Seeing Claudia's original song grow from a chapel moment into a fully produced recording was incredibly meaningful, and the students took great ownership and pride in the process."

More than a music project, the experience reflected the spiritual foundation of 澳门太阳城app下载's Fine Arts program. Through songwriting, live worship, performance, and production, students explored worship not only as an artistic endeavor but as a personal expression of faith.

"Watching Claudia grow in her faith has been such a joy," Hopf shared. It's encouraging to see students use their gifts so boldly and thoughtfully to encourage others in their faith as well."

For Claudia, the moment required vulnerability and courage—allowing the Holy Spirit to move through her creativity, then sharing that deeply personal work in front of the entire school community. 澳门太阳城App下载 is celebrating outstanding achievements in its Fine Arts program as both band/orchestra students and the 澳门太阳城app下载 Chorale earned top honors at the Houston Symphonic Band Concert & Sight Reading Festival, hosted on campus earlier this month.

Instrumental students took the stage in the chapel to perform for a panel of adjudicators and complete a sight-reading assessment, demonstrating their musical skill, preparation, and focus. Their performance resulted in Superior ratings from all judges (straight I's)—the highest distinction awarded at the event.

The 澳门太阳城app下载 Chorale also delivered an exceptional performance, presenting three challenging pieces before immediately completing a sight-reading evaluation. The group received straight Superior ratings in both Concert and Sight-Reading, reflecting their dedication to excellence and strong musicianship.

Joylin Kodia has been recognized at this year's Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo School Art Competition, earning a Special Merit Award for her colored drawing titled "Vibrant Poultry."

 

Her artwork will be displayed in the HAYLOFT Gallery for the duration of the show, giving thousands of visitors the opportunity to experience her creativity and craftsmanship. Being selected for exhibition is a significant honor and represents excellence among entries submitted from schools across the region.

Joylin's detailed work and bold use of color demonstrate both technical skill and artistic confidence. Her recognition at such a prestigious event highlights her commitment to developing her craft and sharing her unique creative voice.

Trevor Robertson has earned one of the highest honors at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo School Art Competition, receiving a Gold Medal Award for his oil painting titled "Dreaming Under the Lone Star."

His artwork is one of only 90 pieces selected for the prestigious School Art Auction and has been designated Lot #52. The live auction will take place on Sunday, March 15, where collectors from across the region will bid on the award-winning works. Selection for the auction represents an elite distinction within the competition and highlights both artistic excellence and technical mastery.

In addition to his award, Trevor was interviewed by 100.3 The Bull, where he shared insight into his inspiration and creative process.

Trevor's achievement reflects not only his exceptional talent in oil painting but also his dedication, discipline, and artistic vision. The entire community celebrates this remarkable accomplishment.

The annual Presidential Salute celebrates the enduring values and legacy of President George H.W. The evening featured emcee Anthony Yanez of KPRC2, inspiring remarks from Foundation CEO Alice Gonzalez Yates, and a moderated conversation between President Bush's grandson Sam Bush LeBlond and legendary former Duke University men's basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski.

This prestigious recognition honors an educator in the Greater Houston area who exemplifies extraordinary commitment to arts education. The students participated in an intensive three-day preparation and rehearsal experience in Richardson, Texas, working under the direction of distinguished conductors from across the state. Their work culminated in professional-level concert performances at the Eisemann Center, showcasing the excellence and discipline required of All-State musicians.
